OKLAHOMA CITY – The Cheyenne Utility Authority (Authority) received approval for an $800,000 loan with 100% principal forgiveness on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water system will be financed by the Oklahoma Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).
The Authority operates a public water treatment and distribution system and is undertaking critical improvements to replace aging infrastructure and maintain reliable service. The project includes construction of a new 71,000-gallon clearwell, as well as a new pump station to support water delivery and treatment operations. The existing clearwell, which has deteriorated due to age and is experiencing leaks, will be removed and replaced with modern infrastructure designed to improve efficiency and reliability. These upgrades will reduce water loss, strengthen the treatment process, and help ensure a safe and dependable supply of drinking water for residents and businesses throughout the community.
Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the Authority’s customers will save an estimated $1,259,000 when compared to traditional financing.
