OKLAHOMA CITY – The Holdenville Public Works Authority (Authority) received approval for a $1,000,000 loan with 100% principal forgiveness on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water system will be financed by the Oklahoma Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).
The Authority is making critical improvements to their water system. The proposed project will replace 1,968 aging meters with Automated Meter Reading (AMR) water meters. By replacing meters that have reached the end of their useful life, the Authority will improve operational efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance the accuracy of water usage measurement. The upgraded meters will also help the District to identify leaks and other areas of water loss. This infrastructure improvement will increase the reliability of service provided to the residents and businesses served by the Authority.
Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the Authority’s customers will save an estimated $1,581,300 when compared to traditional financing.
