Seminole Municipal Authority Receives $650,265 Grant for System Improvements from the OWRB

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Seminole Municipal Authority (Authority) received approval for $650,265 in funding on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) for recent improvements to the Authority’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Partial reimbursement of the construction upgrades and improvements to the water and wastewater system will be financed by the OWRB American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program.

The Authority operates a water and wastewater system that serves residents and businesses throughout the community. To maintain reliable service and ensure the system remains in good working condition, the Authority has undertaken several infrastructure improvements. The proposed project will provide partial reimbursement for recent water line and sewer line upgrades, as well as the repair of a community water well and related system components. These improvements will help enhance system reliability, support ongoing compliance, and ensure continued access to safe and dependable water services.

The total cost of the projects was $1,317,580.98, funded through local resources. The Authority is now eligible to receive a partial reimbursement of $650,264.59 through an OWRB ARPA Grant.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the District’s customers will save an estimated $1,038,400 compared to traditional financing.
