Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Pond Creek Public Works Authority (Authority) in Grant County received approval for a $99,999 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant on Tuesday through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure.

The Authority operates a water system and is addressing a decline in water production due to the deterioration of Water Well #1. The proposed project will replace the aging well by drilling a new one next to the existing site, along with the necessary infrastructure upgrades to complete the project. This essential work will help ensure continued, reliable water service for the community. The estimate cost of the project is $120,125.00 which will be funded by the OWRB REAP Grant of $99,999.00 and local funds of $20,126.00.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB's Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save the Authority’s customers $181,600 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
