OKLAHOMA CITY – The Town of Summit (Town) received approval for $1,153,848 in funding on Tuesday from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Town’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Construction of upgrades and improvements to the water and wastewater systems will be financed by the OWRB American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant program.
The Town is addressing vital infrastructure concerns, including aging septic systems, inadequate ditch drainage, and improving access to dependable public water supplies. To ensure the Town remains in compliance with state and federal regulations, the proposed project will include grading and installation of new drainage pipes to improve stormwater flow. It will also replace deteriorating septic systems that no longer function properly and establish new water service connections to the Muskogee County RWD system. Once complete, this project will enhance the quality of life for Summit residents by improving water reliability, protecting public health, and strengthening critical infrastructure.
Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the Town’s customers will save an estimated $1,778,800.00 compared to traditional financing.
